Meet new artist B.M.E. MEL. His music paints a vivid picture of life for a young King in Queens, N.Y.
His new single, “Gotta Get It“, featuring legendary rapper JUELZ SANTANA, has the underground buzzing!
MEL has been on his grind since 2016, recording and perfecting his sound. He credits his family for inspiring him to chase his dreams while cleverly using the nonbelievers to propel him to success.
“I’m definitely inspired by my family, especially my dad, but the nonbelievers and the haters push me even more. I have to the kill them with my success! I am naturally resilient and have a success-driven mentality which I apply to my music career.”
If MEL wasn’t rapping he says he would still be his own boss. “I can’t work for anybody else. I need to control my destiny.” Yet, he fell into the music game very unexpectedly…
“One day I was going to school and the train stopped temporarily in between stations. I needed to do something to pass the time so I decided to try and write a rap. I surprised myself when it turned out pretty good (Laughing). I decided to go to the studio and record it and I LOVED how I sounded rapping on an actual beat! I haven’t stopped rapping since that day.”
We all know that today’s music industry is heavily saturated with rappers and gimmicks, but MEL sets himself apart from the rest with his versatile and unpredictable style. He has the ability to switch up his flow to compliment any beat. “I really try not to have a set style because I like being unpredictable. I have so many different flows and sounds. I rap, I sing, I harmonize so when you press play you don’t know which MEL you’re gonna get.”
He prides himself on being from Queens and is determined to bring the spotlight back on his borough. “We have had so many iconic artists from this borough, but lately there haven’t been a lot of popular artists coming out of Queens. I will be the one to spark that flame.”
MEL’s early musical influences include, Queen’s own 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Cassidy and Meek Mill. These days you can catch him vibing to FivioForeign, DaBaby, Rod Wave, Yung Bleu, Neeko Power and A Boogie.
When asked how he feels about the current state of Hip-Hop music, MEL had this to say, “It may sound strange, but I have a love-hate relationship with Hip-Hop right now. See, I love the way the music game has transitioned to the point where the independent artist doesn’t need major label support to blow up. On the other hand, I hate that there’s much less individuality in the artists. Everyone is trying to sound like someone else instead of being themselves. Artists would rather sound and/or act like whatever artist is hot right now if they think it’s going to be beneficial to their career. I prefer to be authentic.”
Making music is only the starting point for B.M.E. MEL. He has a big list of dreams and goals. One of which is to put out a project with no features that reaches platinum status. “It takes a certain caliber of artist, a very special one, to accomplish that and my skills and confidence level are up for the challenge.”

He also plans to start his own record label in the future so he can open up doors for other artists and help take their careers to the next level. “This is our culture and we need to create generational wealth from it. It’s all about prospering so you can help the next man. That’s the type of energy I bring with me everywhere I go, so I can’t lose.”

B.M.E. MEL is busy wrapping up two projects for release this year. The first project titled,”Ready Since Birth”, features Neeko Powerz, KDOTEM and YO MRTN. The second is his solo project titled, “Be Motivated Everyday”, hence his moniker, B.M.E. MEL.
No specific dates for these project’s releases, but in the meantime check out his YouTube Channel, BMEMEL Music and NKOPWRZ‘ new single, “Gotta Get It“, featuring B.M.E. MEL x JUELZ SANTANA currently steaming on iTunes.
After hearing this track I’m excited to hear what else B.M.E. MEL’s got up his sleeve!

Allow me to reintroduce rap artist INNOCENT? from East New York, Brooklyn. There’s no question he has the ability to sit at the top of the BillBoards.

He started experimenting with making music in the mid to late 90’s when Hip-Hop was at its apex. “Writing is easy for me, always has been. I was a huge fan on of the culture before I got serious about making my own music in the early 2000’s.”

He is inspired by the fans and lovers of real Hip-Hop music. “Knowing my voice can be heard all over the world inspires me to create. And the fact that music can lead to financial security for my family is an added inspiration.”

INNOCENT? names his grandfather as his greatest musical influence. “My grandfather was my number 1 influence. He taught me how to really LISTEN to the music. He taught me how to dissect different instruments. As far as artists who influenced me, I’d have to name the Jungle Brothers , NWA, RedMan, RAKIM, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, LL COOL J, WuTang Clan, EPMD and GURU of GANGSTARR…shit I can go on for days! And all of my influencers are pretty much my favorite emcees.”

He describes his rhyme style as charismatic/genuine/smooth but still gritty. His humble but assertive spirit capture your attention while his potent bars grab you by the collar and look you dead in your eyes! “I’m a BoomBap lyricist and representative of real Hip-Hop. I am here to keep the fire going! I don’t pay attention to anyone else’s style, I just do me. That in itself separates me from other emcees.”

Not a new-jack in this rap game, INNOCENT? was the first underground Hip-Hop artist to have rap music played on the hit television show Law & Order! (Episode starring Fab 5 Freddy, Sticky Fingers and Bokeem Woodbine).

One of his favorite Hip-Hop memories to date is having the opportunity to shoot the music video for “Say Cheeze” with Rockness Monsta of Heltah Skeltah at 5 Pointz American Mural Space in Long Island City before it was demolished.

He is currently putting the finishing touches on “Escape 2 Alcatraz 2” EP, the follow-up to his underground classic “Escape 2 Alcatraz 1“, which featured some of Brooklyn’s finest…Shaz Illyork, Stuck B and Roc Marciano. Both projects are produced entirely by INNOCENT?’s innovative/Brooklyn-native producer, ALCATRAZ ED.”E2 A2“, is slated to drop in mid to late August of 2019 and is sure to be a banger!

“My ultimate goals as an artist are to work with as many of the artists I admire and grew up listening to, that I possibly can, and, of course, walk across the stage with a Grammy award in my hand!”

Superstar Rah

Introducing brand new artist, Superstar Rah, from the Bronx, N.Y.   His ambition, drip  and unique vision will change the wave of Hip-Hop…get ready!

Superstar Rah recently decided to get serious about being an artist thanks to some encouragement from his older brother.  “I always felt like I lived the lifestyle of a rapper.  I had the drip, the fans and the bars.  I was popular at every school I went to and people loved my style. My brother, who is now my manager, encouraged me to take rapping seriously, so he brought me to the studio.  I got in the booth and just had fun with it!   At that moment  knew this was what I wanted to do.”

Rah is musically inspired by A Boogie, Lil Durk and Lil Baby.   “Those are my favorite artists and where I draw the most influence from.  Growing up in Miami, I listened to a lot of T-pain and that’s how I came to love the melodic element of rap music. I enjoy listening to and studying other artist’s musical styles, it inspires me to create my own. ”

He describes his style as ‘New York mixed with Atlanta sound’.  “I spit bar-for-bar rhymes that are heavy on melodies.  I love making songs that incorporate melodies and a bunch of different sounds.  It allows me to deliver my rhymes in unusual ways.”

Rah prides himself on being able to create different styles of music.  “I am completely versatile.  I make music for the seasons (laughing).  In the summer, I’m coming hard as fuck.  In the winter, I make music with a  softer vibe to put you in the zone.  My fashion sense also adds to the package.  My visuals will be fire!  I am not only an artist…I am a BRAND.”

The self-proclaimed Leader of the New School has future plans to dominate digital music streams, rack up platinum plaques and become CEO of his own label.

“I love the new style of music, but I feel like I can enhance it, you know make it better and more LIT.  Also, I am taking the time to educate myself on the business side of the industry so I will be able to help those who come after me.  I am excited about what I will contribute to Hip-Hop!”

SuperStar Rah is currently in the studio working on tracks for his debut EP, which will drop in the fourth quarter of 2019.  His latest single “EVERYDAY“, premiers in July 2019 and is guaranteed to set the summer on fire!
